Representative Allison Nutting-Wong

Allison Nutting-Wong
NH House of Representatives – Ward 7
1st term

Representative Nutting is running for her 2nd term in the November 2018 election.  She has moved, so if she wins re-election, she will be representing Ward 5.

The Nashua Telegraph ran the following posting for Allison on November 2, 2016:

“The 25-year-old Nashua native is an office manager and has interned at several political organizations, including the New Hampshire Citizens Alliance, Planned Parenthood and Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill’s campaign in 2012.

I am running for state representative because I love my city and my state. I want to live in a community with good roads, good schools and a healthy environment. I want to live in a place where people feel safe and people can get the help they need. I want to live in a world where we live more like friends and less like enemies. If you want some of the same things I want, and someone who will listen to you, I would appreciate it if you voted for me.”

PERSONAL INFORMATION:

Age:  22photo_nutting_work
Occupation:  Office manager – Phoenix Manufacturing in Nashua.  I like to describe my job as in charge of everything that doesn’t get grease on it.

I am a Nashua native and a graduate of Sunset Heights, Elm Street, and Nashua North. When I’m not working, I enjoy reading novels and watching horribly predicable television shows. I also have a fruit and vegetable garden and enjoy baking with my sourdough starter.

My favorite sourdough recipe is from King Arthur Flour: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/rustic-sourdough-bread-recipe .  However, the perfect sourdough recipe would have to rise for exactly the amount of time I am at work. Alas, that seems to be too long.

MY QUALIFICATIONS:

I have been involved in many forms of political process. In 2011, I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from Russell Sage College in political science, with minors in pre-law and women’s studies. In 2012, after graduating, I worked for Organizing for America as an intern, and on the Missouri Coordinated Campaign as an organizer for Claire McCaskill. I’ve also interned with the NH Citizens Alliance and Planned Parenthood.

I AM RUNNING FOR THE STATE HOUSE BECAUSE …..

I think I’d do a good job. I want to listen to my constituents. I want to get to know my neighbors and their opinions. I want them to know that there is a voice in Concord for them.

photo_nutting_causeISSUES THAT I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT ……

 – WOMAN’S ISSUES:

In recent years, women’s rights have been attacked. I am pro-choice. I believe that it’s my choice to have a baby, just like it’s other people’s choice to buy a car.  It shouldn’t be an issue to be taken lightly, but one that I get to make. I also support the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and plan on ensuring that it is enforced, and not ignored.

– TRANSPORTATION:

I believe that this is an issue that isn’t really talked about. I think we need to talk about the importance of safe and paved roads and an increase in sidewalks. I want to make sure that Nashua, and the rest of the state, has the funding to create the infrastructure it needs to be friendly to alternative transportation (bikes, walking, etc.).  I also want to see the MBTA line extended to Nashua and into NH.

– THE ARTS:

Art and music are lacking in today’s society. I’d like to try to improve our art spaces and create more art and music programs. Today’s children and adults should have more outlets for their creativity in their community and schools.
